Job summary

Texas Health Resources seeks a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Ln, Dallas, TX. This full-time night shift (7:00pm–7:00am) includes rotating weekends and a strong teamwork culture. As an RN in L&D, you’ll deliver care using the nursing process, perform patient assessments, planning, and interventions, ensure safety, and support transfers. Requires an associate degree in nursing (BSN preferred) and active RN licensure.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
• RN licensure in Texas required.
• 1 year RN experience in acute care; L&D strongly preferred.
• NRP, NRPA, ACLS, CPI certifications required within specified timeframes.
• IFM competency or plan to obtain within 6–18 months.

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients using the Nursing Process.
• Performs initial assessment and ongoing monitoring.
• Plans and implements patient care with appropriate interventions.
• Maintains safety and infection control throughout shifts.
• Manages inter-shift handoffs and transfers as needed.
• Collaborates with the Labor & Delivery team to support outcomes.

Work hours: Full Time-36 Hours, 7:00pm – 7:00am with rotating weekends

Labor & Delivery Department Highlights

• 375 – 400 deliveries per month
• Level IV Maternal Designation
• The only Maternal Transport Team at Texas Health
• Long tenured team

Here’s What You Need

• Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program or Nursing Diploma required
• BSN preferred
• 1 Year Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting or completion of an RN residency program (Required)
• At least 1 year of RN L&D experience (Strongly Preferred)
• RN – Registered Nurse (Required upon hire)
• BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required prior to providing independent patient care; maintained quarterly)
• NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Essential) (Required within 90 days of hire)
• NRPA – Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Required within 90 days of hire)
• ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required within 90 days of hire)
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (Required within 90 days of hire; maintained annually)
• IFM – Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• If newly hired with experience in perinatal nursing and never taken IFM: Required within 6 months
• If no experience in perinatal nursing: Required within 18 months

What You Will Do

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
