Job summary

Mercy Hospital South is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg 5W on a night shift schedule (7:00 PM–7:00 AM). New grads and experienced nurses are welcome, with sign-on bonuses up to $10,000 for experienced nurses and up to $5,000 for new graduates.

The unit cares for adult medical patients and offers a strong environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, with emphasis on assessment, coordination with a multidisciplinary team, and respecting patient rights and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Education from an accredited nursing program with one of the listed degrees.
• Licensure: current MO RN license or compact license per state regulations.
• Hospital nursing experience preferred, depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of information.

About the Unit — Med Surg 5W

Med Surg 5W cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Qualifications

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing

• Nursing Diploma

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure:Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience:Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications:

• Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education:BSN preferred

• Licensure:Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred

• Experience:Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly

• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift

• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
