Job summary

Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient Surgery Department. You will provide direct, hands-on care for patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures, and support recovery to pre-surgical wellness levels.

Responsibilities include developing individualized care plans, coordinating post-operative care, and supporting patients with overnight or extended stays.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited program is required.
• Connecticut RN license is required.
• Minimum of 1 year in an acute inpatient setting.
• BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift

Description: The Inpatient Surgery Department at Saint Mary’s Hospital is a 23‑bed unit specializing in the pre‑ and post‑operative care of patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures, including bariatric, orthopedic, ortho‑trauma, neuro‑spine, mastectomy, urological, gynecological, and gastrointestinal surgeries.

Your Role

• Deliver direct, hands‑on care to patients with complex surgical needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans focused on promoting recovery and restoring patients to their pre‑surgical level of wellness.
• Provide exceptional care and support for patients requiring overnight or extended post‑operative stays.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred.
• Licensure: Current and valid Connecticut RN license.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in an acute inpatient setting.
• Certifications: BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or the American RedCross.

Work Schedule

Full‑time, 30 hours, Days. 12‑hour shifts, 7a.m. to 7:30p.m. Weekend & holidays required.
