Trinity Health's Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT, seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager to provide hands-on clinical and operational leadership for the General Surgery unit. Under the Clinical Nurse Manager, you will support high-acuity post-operative and surgical patients, promote evidence-based practice, patient safety, and efficient throughput.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut or Multistate RN license.
• BSN from an accredited nursing program.
• MSN preferred.
• Prior inpatient leadership experience preferred.
• Medical oncology or medical-surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible, hands-on clinical leadership and real-time coaching at the bedside.
• Support safe, high-quality care for medical oncology and medical-surgical patient populations, including patients undergoing chemotherapy or complex treatments.
• Serve as a clinical resource for symptom management, treatment-related complications, and clinical decision-making.
• Support admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient throughput while maintaining safety and quality.
• Promote med/surg evidence-based practices, safety initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.
• Mentor and support RNs and charge nurses, fostering professional development and accountability.
• Assist with staffing coordination and shift-to-shift continuity of care.

Job Summary

This role serves as a senior clinical resource, supporting high-acuity post-operative and surgical patients while promoting evidence-based practice, patient safety, and efficient throughput.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visible, hands-on clinical leadership and real-time coaching at the bedside


• Support safe, high-quality care for medical oncology and medical-surgical patient populations, including patients undergoing chemotherapy or complex treatments


• Serve as a clinical resource for symptom management, treatment-related complications, and clinical decision-making


• Support admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient throughput while maintaining safety and quality


• Promote med/surg evidence-based practices, safety initiatives, and quality improvement efforts


• Mentor and support RNs and charge nurses, fostering professional development and accountability


• Assist with staffing coordination and shift-to-shift continuity of care

Schedule

36-hour position with flexible scheduling options, including:

• Three 8-hour shifts plus one 12-hour shift, or


• Three 12-hour shifts with rotating patterns

Includes designated overlap into evening shifts to support unit operations and staff needs.
