Registered Nurse (RN) FT Day 7a-7p 3/12 hour shifts

Position Summary

Provides nursing care through physical and mental assessments, laboratory testing, plans of care, and therapeutic treatments. Knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders including cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral. Performs crisis intervention and participates in the department's performance improvement and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.

Position Responsibilities

Clinical / Technical Skills (40% of performance review)

  • Maintain a therapeutic milieu that is safe and focused on delivering quality patient care, leading shift teams through appropriate assignments and effective communication.
  • Conduct admission and daily shift assessments, identify and manage patient conditions, and assess pain with appropriate management techniques.
  • Provide education to patients and families.
  • Conduct medication reconciliation, administer medications safely per policy, and be knowledgeable about psychotropic drugs and their administration based on patient age and condition.
  • Follow CPOE protocols.
  • Establish and maintain individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding patient care issues.
  • Document in accordance with SUN policies.
  • Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary.
  • Ensure all patient care activities are performed in a manner that promotes safety and reduces errors, including electronic record keeping and wristband scanning.
  • Advocate for patients and families at all times.
  • Be flexible, organized, and capable of functioning under stressful situations.
  • Use proper protocols for Seclusion and Restraint when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Create a safe, healing environment for patients and families.
  • Follow all safety rules and report hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Participate in safety programs and quality initiatives.

Teamwork (15% of performance review)

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, patients, families, and physicians.
  • Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Build positive relationships and adhere to behavioral standards.

Integrity (15% of performance review)

  • Uphold standards, policies, and laws; practice ethically and professionally.
  • Support hospital mission and values.
  • Manage resources responsibly and maintain confidentiality.

  • Provide high-quality patient care with accountability and understanding.
  • Accept and respect cultural diversity.
Education
  • Required: Associate's degree in nursing, current RN license, CPR, and de-escalation certification.
  • Preferred: Advanced degree or certification in nursing.
Experience
  • Preferred: Minimum of one year in behavioral healthcare setting.
