Job summary

HCA Healthcare’s Methodist ER Converse in Converse, TX seeks a Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered emergency care. You will work with physicians and the care team to implement nursing models and advocate for patients and families.

The role emphasizes pain management, procedures, and rapid response to patient needs. Essential qualifications include active RN licensure, ACLS/BLS within required timeframes, and TNCC/ENPC or PALS within specified periods.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassess after intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider and documents care in the EHR.
• Responds promptly to patient requests and anticipates needs to deliver exceptional care.
• Educates patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications and side effects, and follow-up measures.
• Prepares patients for future self-management and discusses non-medicinal follow-up measures such as diet and exercise.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.




• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.




• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.




• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.




• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date




• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date




• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date




• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date




• (RN) Registered Nurse




• Registered Nurse Diploma, or Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree




• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date




• Minimum 6 months experience required as a Licensed Registered Nurse

Methodist ER Converse serves the Converse and surrounding area. We provide crucial care to patients in need. We are a 12,650 square-foot, 24/7 freestanding emergency center. Our facility features 12 all-private treatment rooms and a full range of services. Services include radiology, full-service laboratory, telemetry and immediate intervention. We offer 24-hour monitoring and testing of cardiac patients. We are committed to urgent and quality patient care. We feature unique use of a Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS).This system allows staff to electronically transmit diagnostic images.
