Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Des Moines seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Resource Pool, floating to Ortho Trauma, Med/Surg, Neuro Trauma, Cardiac Telemetry, and Oncology. A $7.00/hour shift differential applies to all shifts, with additional differentials for night and weekend shifts.

The role emphasizes learning across multiple units and broad clinical exposure. As an RN in the Resource Pool, you will deliver individualized patient care, collaborate with diverse teams, and rotate 3 shifts per

Qualifications

• Current Iowa RN license.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 weeks of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Excellent communication and team coordination.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Practice safe patient handling techniques.
• Continues to evaluate assigned patients and provide ongoing treatment.
• Anticipates and addresses educational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup and safety procedures.
• Initiates emergency support measures (CPR) when needed.

As a RN at MercyOne, you will p r o v i d e individualized, high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages. Uses a team approach to delegate and coordinate patient care at admission, transfer, and discharge. Independently delivers nursing care using the Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Medical Center policies, nursing standards, ethical principles, and professional judgment. Works rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

• Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.

• Practices safe patient handling techniques.

• Continues to evaluate assigned patients and provides ongoing treatment.

• Anticipates, identifies , and responds to educational and emotional needs of patients and families.

• Guides and directs healthcare personnel ( i.e. Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients.

• Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices). Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms whenever available to maximize patient safety.

• Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury).

Schedule

• 36 hours/week
• 3, 12-hour shifts
• Rotating shifts: 3 weeks of nights and 3 weeks of days per 6-week cycle. OR straight nights
• $7 differential for all shifts, just being part of our Resource Pool team!
• $5 differential for Night Shifts
• $4 differential for Weekend Shifts
• Differentials do stack!

General Requirements

• Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa

• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.
