Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Resource Pool, providing high-quality care across multiple units. You will float to Ortho Trauma, Med/Surg, Neuro Trauma, Cardiac Telemetry, and Oncology, gaining diverse patient-care experience.

Expect 12-hour rotating shifts with weekend and holiday coverage. A $7.00/hour differential is offered for Resource Pool nurses, with additional night/weekend differentials.

Qualifications

• Current or compact state licensure as a registered nurse.
• Mandatory Reporter training completed within 3 months of hire.
• American Heart Association BLS certification within 6 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages.
• Delegate and coordinate patient care during admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Deliver nursing care per Nurse Practice Act, Mercy policies, and standards.
• Rotate shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.

Job Description

• We are looking to hire a Registered Nurse As a RN at MercyOne, you will provide individualized, high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages.
• Uses a team approach to delegate and coordinate patient care at admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Independently delivers nursing care using the Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Medical Center policies, nursing standards, ethical principles, and professional judgment.
• Works rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
• Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Practices safe patient handling techniques.
• Continues to evaluate assigned patients and provides ongoing treatment.
• Anticipates, identifies, and responds to educational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e. Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices).
• Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms whenever available to maximize patient safety.
• Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury).

Schedule: 36 hours/week 3, 12-hour shifts Rotating shifts: 3 weeks of nights and 3 weeks of days per 6-week cycle.

OR straight nights $7 differential for all shifts, just being part of our Resource Pool team! $5 differential for Night Shifts $4 differential for Weekend Shifts Differentials do stack!

General Requirements

• Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter - Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.
