Job summary

Avoca Specialty Care, part of Care Initiatives, is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for part-time evening shifts (2PM-10PM) in Avoca, IA. This 45-bed skilled nursing community offers a compassionate team and opportunities to impact residents’ daily lives with skilled nursing care.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid RN license in the state of Iowa.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations is preferred.
• Candidates should demonstrate empathy, respect, patience, and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily living activities (bathing, dressing, feeding).
• Administer medications and perform routine vital checks.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
• Communicate with residents, families, and health-care team.
• Encourage recreational and therapeutic activities per resident plans.
• Adhere to infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities

• Support daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and passing medications.
• Deliver emotional support and provide companionship while fostering a positive and engaging environment.
• Provide health monitoring by administering medications and conducting routine vital checks.
• Interact and communicate with residents, families, as well as the healthcare team.
• Encourage and facilitate resident recreational and therapeutic activities to enhance health and daily routines.
• Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a clean and safe environment for safety.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in good standing. License must be valid within the state of Iowa, or ability to activate.
• Current, valid CPR Certification.
• Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and laws.
• A strong commitment to helping others and consistently treating them with empathy, respect, patience, and discretion.
