Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for:

  • Delivering safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Providing direct patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Guiding patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry.
  • Being directly responsible and accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Communicating with physicians about changes in patients' clinical conditions, including diagnostic results and symptoms.
  • Responding quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
  • Knowledge of EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
  • Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Training

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintaining current certification.
  • Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintaining current certification.
  • Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days upon hire and maintaining current certification.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER experience preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
