Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka, KS is hiring a day shift, full-time Emergency Room A (ER) Registered Nurse to join our patient-centered team.

The RN will coordinate safe patient care for diverse populations, assess needs, develop goals, and delegate tasks under the Nurse Director/Manager, ensuring adherence to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s degree in nursing and active Kansas RN Licensure.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer.
• Telemetry/ICU/PCU experience preferred; ACLS may be required.
• Oncology certification for post-surgery area; other specific certifications within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safe patient care delivery for diverse patient populations.
• Assess patient/family needs, set goals, and evaluate care plans.
• Delegate care to team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Adhere to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act in all nursing activities.

Responsibilities

• The Registered Nurse functions under the direction of the Nurse Director/Manager and is responsible for the coordination of safe patient care delivery for specified and diverse patient populations.


• The RN assesses patient/family needs, develops and prioritizes patient goals, evaluates care delivery, and continually revises the plan of care to meet the biological, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, developmental, and educational needs of the patient/family.


• The RN Delegates care as appropriate to optimize patient outcomes.


• The RN adheres to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Associate’s degree in nursing


• Current Kansas RN Licensure.


• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.


• Telemetry, ICU, and PCU need ACLS


• Post Surgery requires oncology certification.


• Specific Certificationsare required within one year of hire

Preferred Job Requirements:

• 4-Year Degree


• At least one year of recent experience in a similar healthcare setting.


• Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
