Job summary

Tenet Healthcare Corporation seeks an experienced Registered Nurse - ER to join the Westover Hills Baptist Hospital team in San Antonio, TX. You will deliver high-quality nursing care under minimal supervision, matching patient needs with your clinical competencies.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, plan implementation, documentation, and education. Ideal candidates hold an RN license in Texas and have BLS/ACLS as required, with strong teamwork in a fast-paced ER.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Texas RN license.
• Active BLS and hospital-based patient care readiness.
• Two years acute care experience preferred for ER.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient, family, and significant other health needs.
• Initiate and monitor an approved care plan; reassess as needed.
• Document care plans, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
• Provide patient and family education and discharge planning.
• Assign tasks, supervise staff, and coordinate care flow.
• Calculate and administer medications following policy.

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse - ER provides nursing care for a group of patients assigned to the nurse based on matching the patients’ needs with the nurse’ competencies. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assesses human responses and adaptation to actual or potential health problems of the patient, family and/or significant other
• Institutes approved medical protocols and initiates a plan for patient care based on the initial assessment; implements and continuously evaluates interventions; reassesses patient needs on an on-going basis
• Recognizes changing patient condition and utilizes unit resources, chain of command in a timely and appropriate manner
• Assimilates and prioritizes information sources to take immediate and decisive patient-focused action
• Supports and maintains the physiologic stability of patients
• Responds with confidence and adapts to rapid changing patient conditions
• Documents all plans and care provided
• Identifies need for education of patient, family and/or significant other and provides education through individualized instruction, the use of written materials and/or other available resources
• Assigns nursing care to licensed staff, delegates nursing care to unlicensed staff and coordinates the flow of work
• Calculates and administers medications

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Two years in acute care preferred
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):

ADULT ED:

• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role *Should be completed before the end of the orientation period
• AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role *Should be completed before the end of the orientation period.
  NOTE: PALS is not required in Adult ED at North Central Baptist Hospital.
• TNCC within 1 year of date of hire or transfer into unit
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention must be obtained with 60 days of hire date or transfer to position
• ENPC is preferred

PEDIATRIC ED:

• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
• AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role
  *Should be completed before the end of the orientation period
• TNCC within 1 year of date of hire or transfer date into unit
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention must be obtained with 60 days of hire date or transfer to position
• ENPC within 18 months of hire or transfer into role.
