Job summary

UT Health East Texas seeks an ER Registered Nurse to join the Pittsburg, TX team on rotating PRN shifts. The RN will provide direct patient care across age groups in a Level II/III setting, following physician orders and department protocols.

Qualifications include Texas RN license, nursing degree, BLS, ACLS, and either PALS or ENPC with NIHSS certification prior to orientation completion. Prior ED or acute care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Texas RN license and nursing degree are mandatory.
• BLS within 14 days of hire; ACLS before orientation ends.
• PALS or ENPC required before end of orientation.
• NIHSS certification required before end of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Administers care to patients from newborn to geriatric with a multidisciplinary approach.
• Prioritizes care based on patient assessment and implements a care plan.
• Delivers care per physician orders and hospital policies.

• UT Health Pittsburg offers 25 private rooms, a 24-hour Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center, surgical suites, advanced diagnostics, a sleep lab, swing bed care, 16 physician offices, and a UT Health East Texas Olympic Center fitness facility.

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
• Prioritizes patient care need based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient’s needs.
• Delivers care consistent with physician’s orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Current Texas RN license
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required within 14 days of hire and before providing direct patient care
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required before end of orientation
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required before end of orientation
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required before end of orientation

Preferred Job Requirements

• One year of emergency nursing experience
• Two years of acute care nursing experience
• CEN
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
