Job summary

UT Health East Texas in Pittsburg, TX, is seeking a variable shift, PRN Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our ER team. The RN provides patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment across age groups from newborn to geriatric, following physician orders and hospital protocols.

Requirements include a Texas RN license, BLS within 14 days, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and NIHSS certification. Prior emergency or acute care experience is preferred in this demanding role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Nursing degree from an accredited school.
• Current Texas RN license.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
• ACLS required before end of orientation
• PALS or ENPC required before end of orientation
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required before end of orientation

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
• Prioritizes patient care need based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient’s needs.
• Delivers care consistent with physician’s orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy

Job Requirements:

• Current Texas RN license
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required before end of orientation
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required before end of orientation
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required before end of orientation

Preferred Job Requirements:

• One year of emergency nursing experience
• Two years of acute care nursing experience
• CEN
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
