Job summary

Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is seeking a day shift, full-time Emergency Room Registered Nurse in Harker Heights, TX. The role focuses on planning and delivering direct and indirect patient care with a nursing care plan in coordination with patients, families, and the health care team.

Responsibilities include communicating changes in clinical condition to physicians and supervisors, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring timely triage and critical interventions in a Level IV trauma

Qualifications

• Texas RN licensure required and active on hire.
• NLC license recognition for multi-state practice.

• NRP and TNCC certifications preferred/required within specified timelines.
• Triage education must be completed within 90 days of hire.

Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more.

Responsibilities

The nurse is responsible for the planning and delivery of direct and indirect patient care, developing a nursing care plan in coordination with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary staff as necessary, and communicating changes in the patient's clinical condition with Physicians, Nursing Supervisor/Manager, and co-workers as appropriate.

Job Requirements

• Completion of required education to obtain Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Registered Nurse (RN) with Texas Board of Nursing - OR - current home state license is required for multi-state license recognition through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Completes formal triage education within 90 days of hire.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role, and prior to providing direct patient care, or ARC (American Red Cross) is required upon hire.
• Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification through AHA is required upon hire.
• Active PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification is required upon hire.
• Active NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 18 months of hire.
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) within 18 months of hire.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

Preferred Job Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in an ED hospital setting.
• Experience with patient safety best practices.
• Demonstrates mastery of competencies.
• Ability to effectively utilize time management skills to quickly ascertain and identify the medical problem.
