Job summary

Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department. You will deliver direct patient care using the nursing process and coordinate teaching for patients and families.

Must hold a valid RN license with current BLS; ACLS and PALS/ENPC within the specified timelines. ER experience, CEN/BSN preferred, with a focus on EMTALA compliance and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license required.
• BLS certificate must be current on hire.
• ACLS certificate must be current within 30 days of hire.
• PALS and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience in acute care; ER experience preferred.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patient condition and test results.
• Ensure EMTALA compliance and report abuse as required.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• 1. Current and valid state RN License.
• 2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• 3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• 4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• 5. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• 6. Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
• 7. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• 8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

• 1. In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
• 2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
• 3. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
• 4. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.

Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status, i.e. full-time or part-time. The current compensation range for this role is $48.24 to $66.50. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
