Job Description

The RN incorporates the characteristics of human care and performs established procedures in accordance with the organization’s and the nursing division policies, procedures, and standards of care. The RN coordinates family involvement in the assessment/treatment and continuing care of the patient, and delegates tasks to competent and appropriate caregivers.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assessing each patient’s biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, cultural, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs based on age and development status.
  2. Utilizing caring behaviors such as empathy, active listening, and cultural sensitivity to support patient dignity.
  3. Developing and prioritizing an outcome-directed plan of care for assigned patients, adjusting as necessary.
  4. Performing clinical and technical aspects of care according to established policies, procedures, standards of practice, and within the scope of the State Nurse Practice Act.
  5. Evaluating the effectiveness of nursing interventions and modifying the plan of care based on patient outcomes and developmental considerations.
  6. Reviewing the plan of care and consulting with physicians and other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes within scheduled timeframes.
Requirements
  • ASN/BSN degree from an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred but not required.
  • RN license in the state of Illinois.
  • Preference for 2+ years of critical care nursing experience.
  • BLS/ACLS certification required.
