Department/Position Details
- 8 and 12-Hour Shift
- Weekend rotations required for FTE team member
- The use of Casual staff use will vary depending on the department's needs. Must be available a minimum of 24 hours within a 4-week scheduling period. No set or promised number of hours per week. Prompt communication required with managers when scheduling shifts
- No specific Nurse-to-Patient ratios as volumes fluctuate
- Work closely with a team of physicians, CNAs, and other departments for patient care
- Types of patients: falls, car accidents, sports injuries, broken bones, lacerations, uncontrolled bleeding, chest pain, breathing difficulties, stroke, allergic reactions, abdominal pain, etc.
- Treat patients across the age continuum
Essential Job Functions
- Formulate clinical decisions and implement multi-dimensional plans of care that demonstrate independent judgment and critical thinking consistent with private, state and federal regulations.
- Promote and enhance collaborative practice within the health care team to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of patients.
- Demonstrate continued involvement in professional growth by developing personal education objectives and participating in professional growth opportunities to assure continued adherence to professional standards and provision of quality patient care.
- Provide input into the department's operational budget process by determining priorities for allocation of resources to meet identified department goals.
- Demonstrate and promote the Performance Improvement process to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age /weight of the patients served.
- Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
- Attend team meetings, yearly competencies, and any other meetings deemed mandatory
- Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.
Skills Needed
- IVs, lab draws, medication administration, patient education, documentation/charting, dressing changes, conscious sedation, perform EKGs, DME/splints/braces, doppler usage, cardiac monitoring, oxygen applications with airway management, nursing assessments, patient callbacks/updates, clear communication skills, multidisciplinary collaboration
Education
Position Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited school/college of nursing.
- Required Registered Nursing licensed in the State of Nebraska or eligible compact state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurses Pediatric Course (ENPC) required
Experience
- 1+ Years of RN (Registered Nurse) Experience Preferred
Physical
- This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
