Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. Provides oversight of non-RN personnel on the assigned unit.

Responsibilities

1. Assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout the continuum of care.
2. Assess learning needs, provide education to patients and families, document the plan, understanding, and outcomes. Education can be verbal and written.
3. Assist providers in intra-office procedures, set up for procedures, maintain sterile fields, comply with Universal Protocol, and ensure care complies with regulations, YNHHS policies, and standing orders.
4. Assess patients in-office and over the phone for intervention needs and provide timely assistance.
5. Perform nursing duties including assessments, documentation, vital signs, bladder scans, catheter insertions/removals, medication administration, and Point of Care Testing (POCT).
6. Handle and transfer instruments/equipment, maintain competence with high-level disinfecting of ultrasound probes, and disinfect equipment and rooms according to standards.
7. Verify chart information for accuracy and completeness, including reason for visit, medical history, medications, allergies, and social factors. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation.
8. Serve as preceptor to new staff.
9. Function as charge nurse.
10. Meet performance expectations in Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.

Experience: 2-3 years of nursing experience, urology preferred. Recent ambulatory/medical office experience preferred. Proficient in electronic health records and internet research for patient care.

Licensure: Valid Rhode Island RN license, BLS required within one month.

Special Skills: Hospital and unit orientation provided.

Physical Demands: Exposure to bodily fluids, bending, carrying items.
