Advocate Health in West Allis, WI seeks registered nurses for a 34 inpatient acute care Med/Surg unit (Stroke ACE) with a focus on Neurology and Stroke care. Expect Nurse Residency for new grads, supportive team, and standardized 12-hour shifts with weekend/holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing.

Responsibilities

• Build foundational skills and knowledge through Nurse Residency and Preceptor directed orientation.
• Develop skills in time management, triaging accountabilities, communication, pharmacology, lab interpretation, and pathophysiology through med/surg patients.
• Coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care.
• Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.
• Provide continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team-minded support.

Where you will work:

5 South: Stroke ACE Med/Surg is a 34 inpatient acute care Med/Surg unit caring for a wide variety of diagnosis including Stroke, Seizures, Neuro focus, Diabetes, Electrolyte imbalance, Kidney Disease, Mental Health, Dementia, Alzheimer’s. This is an excellent unit to build a neurological focus, foundational skills, become certified in the specialty of Med/Surg and develop specialized skills applicable to any area in nursing.

• Typical RN to Patient Ratio: Days: 1:4-5, Nights: 1:5-6

Schedule:

• Self-scheduling: 6-week schedules

• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 am to 7:30 pm

• Every third weekend and 50% holiday rotation
