Job summary

Kingwood Pines Hospital, a 116-bed facility located in the Kingwood community, NE of Houston, provides 24-hour emergency services and comprehensive psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. The RN will support inpatient psychiatric services with crisis intervention and milieu management.

The Registered Nurse will assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, plan care, administer medications, ensure safety, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree) required. BSN preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas required.
• Minimum of one year related psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and Crisis Intervention training must be completed prior to starting.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric technicians, and counselors. Direct milieu management.
• Provide assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
• Contribute to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.
• Document nursing care, treatment, and patient’s response to treatment.
• Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and apply appropriate treatment interventions.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for psychiatric patients, including child, adolescent, geriatric and chemical dependency patients using the nursing process. Duties include: assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care; administer and/or monitor the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician; to ensure safety and provide milieu management and crisis intervention strategies.
