Title: Registered Nurse

Location: Fountain Valley, CA

Department: Cardiac Surgery

Status: Per Diem

Shift: Days/Variable (8 hrs)

Pay Range*: $54.58 - $85.68

The RN, Cardiovascular functions within their primary role of Circulator and/or Scrub. The RN, Cardiovascular complies and completes accurate and timely information on the Doctor’s Preference Card by creating new cards for the new procedures, and new surgeons and updating cards for changes in surgeon’s preferences of supplies, instrumentation and equipment. This position is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Specialty Service; Oversees equipment/supply needs; Exhibits a mastery of nursing or scrubbing functions in the specialty service to advise and teach other patient care team members.

Responsibilities:
  1. Utilizes the nursing process and AORN standards as a framework for the management of patient care.
  2. Analyzes the assessment data to determine a nursing diagnosis and appropriate interventions.
  3. Demonstrates leadership in the coordination of patient care across the healthcare continuum with progress towards meeting desired patient outcomes.
  4. Delegates to licensed and unlicensed personnel.
  5. Demonstrates the ability to utilize effective critical thinking skills.
  6. Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation.
  7. Contributes to an effective and safe working environment.
  8. Formulates a teaching plan, based on identified patient learning needs, and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching plan as necessary.
  9. Serves as a role model and mentors new staff members.
  10. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, and other sensitive material in printed, electronic, or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees.
  11. Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations.
  12. Demonstrates tact, sensitivity, and discretion.
  13. Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies.
  14. Ability to be at work and be on time.
  15. Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and directives.
  16. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
  17. Ability to prioritize.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Current California RN License required.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher required.
  3. BLS from AHA required.
  4. One-year Acute Care experience in Operating Room Nursing required.
  5. CV experience preferred.
  6. Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
