Job summary

Johnson Memorial Health in Franklin, Indiana is hiring a Registered Nurse for full-time night shifts (6:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.) with 72 hours per bi-weekly pay period. The role requires Indiana RN licensure, BLS/CPR, and pediatric care certification (PALS) with ACLS/ALS to be obtained within 6 months.

A $5,000 bonus is available for eligible candidates. Eligible external and internal applicants who are new RNs may qualify for the bonus.

Qualifications

• Licensure as Registered Nurse in Indiana required.

• PALS Certification required for staff who care for pediatric patients.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record initial assessment; set priorities by patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Reassess patients regularly to identify progress and needed interventions; respond to emergencies.
• Make nursing decisions based on facts and outcomes; document interventions.
• Provide health education and discharge planning; coordinate team assignments and follow-ups.
• Ensure safe environment and compliance with laws, policies and procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.Reassesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention. Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and recognizes and responds to emergencies.Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome.Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based upon patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness. Utilizes appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues.Participates in orientation of new staff.Maintains a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.Participates in the unit’s continuous quality improvement plan to improve organizational performance.Functions as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff; greeting them promptly and courteously.Performs other related duties as assigned.Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana required. BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers Certification required. PALS Certification required for staff who are assigned to care for pediatric patients. BSN preferred. ACLS or ALS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Must successfully complete dysrhythmia recognition test at initial department orientation.

* Eligibility for the bonus is limited to external candidates and internal candidates who are new registered nurses. Requires a 24‑month employment commitment.
