Provides direct patient care using the nursing process and supports unit coordination activities to promote safe, high‑quality outcomes. Serves as a resource to staff and assists with scheduling, education, and performance initiatives. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present. Physical Requirements (typical): Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, and repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling; rare running or climbing. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments. Proficiency navigating multiple clinical software systems. Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand). Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
