Banner is seeking a full-time RN Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Women's Services team at Banner Desert Medical Center. The role involves system-level participation in clinical consensus groups, evidence-based research, and implementation of clinical practices and policies. The position is 40 hours per week and requires a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) certification in Women's Services.

Position Summary

This role is suited for an educationally and clinically prepared nurse capable of functioning independently as an advanced practice nurse. It involves providing specialized services to specific patient populations, integrating care across different spheres, and improving patient outcomes through mentoring and system changes. The scope aligns with State Board of Nursing regulations and medical staff bylaws.

Core Functions
  1. Provide direct/indirect care for complex patients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans, and offer expert consultation in your area of expertise.
  2. Monitor patient care trends to ensure quality, satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness; resolve ethical conflicts in complex situations.
  3. Set standards for nursing practice based on professional guidelines and evidence, and assist in evaluating and updating practice standards.
  4. Conduct clinical inquiries to inform practice changes and translate research into clinical practice.
  5. Serve as a clinical resource through coaching, mentoring, and role modeling; guide staff in professional development.
  6. Review, revise, and develop Policies, Protocols, and Clinical Practice Guidelines for disease-specific populations.
  7. Participate in workgroups, committees, and Clinical Consensus Groups to influence practice improvements.
  8. Address staff and patient needs broadly, integrating critical thinking, systems knowledge, education, and leadership.
  9. Act as a change agent to implement evidence-based practices, guiding system-wide improvements in patient safety and nursing care quality.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in nursing or equivalent, with knowledge of clinical care and patient treatment.
  • Current RN license in the practice state.
  • Certification by the State Board of Nursing as a CNS in the specialty area.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and database management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • DNP or PhD preferred.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
  • Additional education or experience related to the role is a plus.
