Location: Avera Medical Group Gastroenterology-Sioux Falls

Worker Type: Regular

Work Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; 64hrs/2wks

Pay Range: $22.00 - $40.75 (The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience.)

Position Highlights

A Brief Overview
Provides for the delivery of professional nursing care under the direction of the provider.

What you will do:

  • Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic.
  • Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.
  • Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.
  • Oversees appointment scheduling and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination. Screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining the health history, and taking vitals. Documents obtained information in patient chart. Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests.
  • Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician.
  • Educates patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
  • Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
  • Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed. Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing.

*May be eligible for Hybrid/Remote (in Clinic/at Home) schedule - after 6 months orientation/employment in Clinic**

A Brief Overview
Facilitates all day-to-day project operations including taking incoming calls, coordinating schedules between various specialties, making referrals, managing workflow operations in the clinic, and gather relevant information.

What you will do:

  • Assists clients in eliminating barriers to timely, quality care through all phases of healthcare including: prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Completes needs assessment of all clients and documents within electronic medical record as appropriate.
  • Schedules and makes referrals to appropriate resources and services, documenting within electronic medical record as appropriate.
  • Provides ongoing support and follow-up per outlined protocols and documents within electronic medical record as appropriate.
  • Provides patient education and educational resources.
  • Provides clinical management of clients calling in with symptoms and medical concerns, including appropriate triage with documentation in electronic medical record as appropriate.
  • Assists leadership in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of goals and objectives.
  • Assists leadership with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Facilitates access to care including connecting patients to appropriate appointments at first contact with documentation in electronic medical record as appropriate.
