Join Our Pediatric Operating Room Team

$25,000 sign-on bonus for offers accepted by June 30, 2025. Terms and conditions apply.

Our state-of-the-art Pediatric Operating Room (OR) is located within the Children's Hospital of Richmond, which opened in April 2023. Our Pediatric Perioperative Services Team has transformed pediatric care in the Richmond Region, providing comprehensive services around the clock.

Our facility features six meticulously designed Operating Rooms and two Procedure Rooms, ensuring pediatric patients receive the highest standard of care in a child-friendly environment.

We handle a daily caseload of 12 to 24 cases across various specialties, including Otolaryngology (ENT), Genitourinary (GU), Orthopedics, General, Neuro, Cardiac, and Trauma procedures.

We are committed to excellence in care, backed by a team of highly skilled professionals dedicated to patient well-being and comfort. Experience in a Level 1 Pediatric OR is highly valued, but we also welcome OR nurses with at least 1 year of OR experience who are passionate about pediatric care and committed to excellence.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
  • Clin I, Clin II, Clin III: Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible/compact state
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
  • Clin I, Clin II, Clin III: Current RN licensure in Virginia, AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
Experience REQUIRED:
  • Clin I: N/A
  • Clin II: 12 to 24 months RN experience
  • Clin III: 3 years of clinical experience
Experience PREFERRED:
  • Clin I: Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute care setting or relevant area
  • Clin II, Clin III: Academic healthcare experience; experience with similar patient populations
Education/training REQUIRED:
  • Diploma or Associate Degree from an approved nursing program

All RNs without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing will be required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years and complete it within five years of hire unless grandfathered under previous requirements.

Preferred Education:
  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher
  • Clin III: Certification in specialty area
Independent actions include:

Following documented physician/licensed provider orders, practicing within Virginia regulations, guided by the ANA Code of Ethics and established standards.

Supervisory responsibilities:

Organizing work and supervising others, including RNs, LPNs, Care Partners, and administrative staff.

Additional requirements:

Availability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays; shift schedules will be coordinated with your Nurse/Practice Manager.

Physical and mental requirements:
  • Physical: Lifting 20 lbs, exposure to hazardous substances, prolonged standing/sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching.
  • Mental/Sensory: Recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, reading, logical thinking.
  • Emotional: Ability to handle a fast-paced, noisy environment, manage multiple priorities, and interact with customers frequently and intensely.
