The Clinical Nurse I, II, and III positions involve applying technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet patient and family needs. Responsibilities include assisting the healthcare team in illness prevention, wellness maintenance, and providing comfort. These roles involve delivering and documenting age-specific care based on medical orders and multidisciplinary care plans, safely administering medications, and identifying drug interactions.

**Job Levels:**

• Clinical Nurse I: Entry-level position, no prior experience required, requiring a diploma or associate degree in nursing, and current RN licensure in Virginia or an eligible/compact state. Enroll in an RN to BSN program within two years if not already obtained.

• Clinical Nurse II: Requires 12-24 months of RN experience, with similar educational and licensure requirements as Clin I. Prior experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner is preferred.

• Clinical Nurse III: Requires 3 years of clinical experience, with a bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher preferred, and certification in a specialty area. Demonstrates mastery of clinical skills and begins to serve as a role model and leader.

**Common Requirements:**

• Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible/compact state.
• Certification: AHA BLS HCP or equivalent for continued employment.
• Practice guided by Virginia nursing regulations, ANA Code of Ethics, and institutional policies.

**Supervisory Responsibilities:**

Organize work and delegate tasks to team members, including RNs, LPNs, care partners, and administrative staff.

• Serve age-specific groups as appropriate based on unit assignment.
• Physical requirements include lifting 20-50 lbs, exposure to hazardous substances, and activities like standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, and reaching.
