Job summary

Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in Hartford, CT, is seeking a registered nurse for an inpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry unit. The role focuses on age-appropriate, compassionate care for ages 5–17 with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.

The position involves day shifts, potential part-time hours, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized care plans. Prior pediatric psych experience and BLS/CPR certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
• Valid RN license in Connecticut.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred).
• 1+ year of Child/Adolescent Psychiatry experience in an acute inpatient setting (preferred).
• BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC).

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and ongoing evaluations.
• Administer medications and monitor therapeutic effects and side effects; support de-escalation and crisis intervention using trauma-informed care principles.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and families to implement individualized care plans.

At Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital / Saint Francis Hospital the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric unit provides inpatient care age-appropriate, compassionate, and effective care to patients aged 5 to 17 with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions. Behavioral Health and Mental Health disorders including (but not limited to): Anxiety, Depression, PTSD; Autism spectrum Disorder and AD/HD

Minimum Qualifications

Required

• BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
