Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Chemotherapy Infusion - PRN

Join our team as a Registered Nurse (RN) - Chemotherapy Infusion - PRN at Parkland Health. Primary Purpose

Provide care to assigned patients following established protocols and multidisciplinary care plans, utilizing independent, dependent, and interdependent interventions to restore stability, prevent complications, and maintain optimal patient responses through patient-centered care.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
  • Experience: Less than 9 months requires a Nurse residency; LVN experience does not waive this requirement.
  • Licensure: Current, valid RN license or temporary RN license with the Texas Board of Nursing, or a valid Compact RN license.
  • Certifications: Current healthcare provider CPR from AHA, Red Cross, or Military; Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification within six months of role start.
Skills and Abilities
  • Adhere to Texas Nurse Practice Act, protocols, and standards.
  • Pass Medication Examination prior to orientation.
  • Provide continuous assessment and collaborate with team members.
  • Exercise independent judgment and recommend care plan changes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership skills including directing non-nursing staff, precepting, and serving as Charge Nurse.
Responsibilities
  • Advocate for patients respecting their rights, confidentiality, and cultural preferences.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and laws, including infection control and safety standards.
  • Perform cancer care assessments, document accurately, and review treatment plans and diagnostics.
  • Educate patients and families on care and treatment.
  • Assist with procedures, wound care, and discharge planning.
  • Manage telephone triage and coordinate care effectively.
  • Participate in community outreach and ongoing professional development.
