Job Summary

The RN in the Cardiac Cath Lab provides, coordinates, and evaluates patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, following the nursing process framework. This includes data collection, assessment, prioritization of patient needs, and education.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
• Administer medications safely according to policies and state regulations.
• Coordinate patient care across hospital departments.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and collaborate with support services.
• Serve as a care coordinator for patients' families and caregivers.
• Utilize clinical judgment to prioritize and respond to patient needs, especially in rapidly changing conditions.
• Participate in on-call duties for emergencies, including STEMI call-backs within 30 minutes.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice or covered by a compact license.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred (must obtain within 6 months if not already certified).
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience in telemetry, critical care, or similar units.

Education and Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment

Expect periods of high stress, exposure to hazards, and physical demands including lifting, repositioning patients, and working in noisy or bright environments. Strict adherence to infection control protocols is required.

Patient Population

Provide care to adult and geriatric patients, with an understanding of growth and development principles.
