Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath

Reporting to the Director of Cardiac Services or designated supervisors and charge nurses, responsibilities include initial assessment, reporting abnormal findings or values to the physician, and collaborating with anesthesiologists and specialists. The RN will identify the need for further assessment based on the patient’s clinical presentation and tolerance of diagnostic testing or procedures.

Essential Job Duties:

• Perform initial assessment appropriate to the patient’s clinical presentation.
• Pre-screen patient lab work, mobility, allergies, and medication history prior to invasive diagnostic testing or procedures.
• Notify the physician if the scheduled invasive test or procedure is impacted by assessment findings.
• Perform interventions specific to the patient’s needs to ensure safe, successful diagnostic testing or procedures.
• Document nursing interventions and patient teaching, and plan for discharge or transfer.

Qualifications

Five years of critical care experience required; procedure experience preferred. Interventional Neurology and/or EP experience strongly preferred. Current California RN license (must be maintained), BSN preferred. BLS (must be current, AHA), ACLS (must be current, AHA).
