Job Description

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Experienced Registered Nurse to join the Cardiac Surgical Telemetry team. This full-time night shift role runs from Monday to Friday (including some weekend shifts), from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available.

The Cardiac Surgical Telemetry Unit at Inova Alexandria is a 29-bed acute care unit providing 24-hour telemetry monitoring. Patients include those with cardiac disorders and other complex diagnoses requiring monitoring. Common DRGs include CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias, pneumonia, COPD, various surgeries, and post-craniotomy and spinal surgeries. The unit is equipped to manage high-flow oxygen and BIPAP, and is designated for COVID-19 care.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, interpret data, and synthesize findings.
• Develop individualized care plans based on assessments and patient trends.
• Provide patient- and family-centered care, addressing needs throughout the continuum.
• Advocate for patient rights and serve as a resource to resolve issues.
• Collaborate across disciplines for patient care and transition planning.
• Document all care activities per standards and assist with documentation as needed.
• Evaluate care processes, anticipate variances, and revise plans accordingly.
• Make clinical decisions using experience, data, and intuition, fostering team development.

Additional Requirements:

• Education: BSN from an accredited school; if holding an ADN, must complete BSN within 5 years.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN clinical experience in an acute care setting.
• Licensing and Certification: Current RN license in Virginia or privileges under eNLC; BLS certification from the American Heart Association required at start.

Previous experience in Cardiac Telemetry, Medical, and Surgical nursing is highly preferred.
