Registered Nurse (RN)—Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

WORK LOCATION: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Ln, Dallas, TX 75231

WORK HOURS: PRN III; rotating shifts. PRN III requires 6 shifts every 6 weeks with weekend and holiday requirements

CVICU Department Highlights:

* The CVICU is a 30-bed intensive care unit that specializes in advanced Cardiac and Vascular surgical procedures.

* Our ICU units are located in the Hamon Tower, the largest expansion in the hospital’s history, which opened in 2009.

* Our board-certified critical care physicians directly oversee patient care in the ICU throughout the day. Providers are on the unit 24 hours a day.

* Critical care nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants — all trained in critical care medicine — work collaboratively to provide care in the ICU.

* The staffing is dependent by acuity, normally a 2:1 ratio

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:

* Diploma of Nursing OR Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) required;

* BSN preferred.

* Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency Req

* One-year critical care nursing experience, or completion of an RN residency required

* Cardiac ICU experience strongly preferred – including open-heart surgery recovery, IABP, Impella, CRRT, and bedside ECMO management.

* BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required AND

* ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required (Expiration date greater than 3 months preferred)

* CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually within 90 Days Required

HERE’S WHAT YOU WILL DO

* Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

* Assesses the patient

* Plans the care of the patient

* Intervenes as appropriate

* Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions

* Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.

* Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information

* Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
