Job description

Job Overview

Professional caregiver responsible for patient preparation prior to procedures and assisting physicians during procedures such as angioplasties and cardiac catheterizations. Participates in quality improvement activities and provides age-specific care based on growth and development principles.

Required:

• Current New Jersey RN license
• ASN or Nursing Diploma (with agreement to complete BSN within 5 years)
• BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association
• Completion of a Dysrhythmia course
• Maintaining current competencies and mandatory certifications

Preferred:

• BSN

Other Job Duties:

• Implement hospital and department policies and procedures
• Perform interventions following safety and infection control guidelines
• Operate within all roles of the CCL, including circulating, monitoring, holding, and scrubbing
• Report patient issues and adverse signs immediately
• Conduct patient care and education, using designated tools
• Assist with unit education and act as a resource and preceptor as needed
• Support cardiologist during procedures
• Maintain equipment and supply inventory
• Participate in interdisciplinary patient teaching, assessing educational needs
• Ensure a clean environment and proper equipment maintenance

Unit/Dept Specific Competencies:

• Demonstrate understanding of airway management, arterial line management, cardiac/respiratory arrest protocols, cardioversion, defibrillation, hemodynamic monitoring, and other specialized procedures
• Complete dysrhythmia course and accurately interpret rhythm strips
• Assist in various procedures including sheath removal, temporary pacemaker setup, and equipment operation

Note: Duties may change; this description does not cover all responsibilities.

Scheduling:

• 40 hours/week, day shift
• On-call based on lab staffing needs
