Registered Nurse (RN) – Psychiatric – [Clermont Hospital]

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

1. Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
2. Implementing clinical nursing interventions
3. Having a highly diverse medical skillset
4. Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
5. Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment

Essential Functions:

1. Provide direct patient care according to the provider’s prescribed plan of care (and nursing scope of practice) while closely monitoring progress/recovery
2. Assess and document the patient’s conditions and report changes as needed
3. Administer medication, insulin, and IV/fluids, documenting thoroughly
4. Inspect and care for wounds, changing dressings and assisting with personal hygiene
5. Apply effective interviewing skills to elicit information from patient and/or family/significant other that is necessary to plan and implement the treatment plan
6. Assess patient for further injuries, infections, bedsores, etc., and deliver appropriate treatments
7. Collaborate with providers, aides, and allied health professionals to ensure exceptional patient outcomes
8. Other duties as assigned

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Certifications:

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS acceptable in lieu of BLS)

Experience:

• One (1) year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Recent Behavioral Health experience (preferred, not required)

Training:

• EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required)
• De-Escalation Training (preferred, not required)
