Job summary

Trinity Health in Michigan is seeking an RN Special Procedures Nurse to support Interventional Radiology – Angiography. The role involves assisting a Physician/Physician Assistant across 60+ procedures, monitoring and preparing patients, and providing discharge instructions.

Shifts are day, part-time with no weekends or holidays; 40 hours bi-weekly (.5 FTE). Call coverage is mandatory. You will rotate through radiology modalities with a focus on safe patient prep and post-care education.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan Nursing License.
• BSN degree required or must agree in writing to obtain BSN within five (5) years from date of hire.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• ICU or ER experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and possibly sedate the patient, chart the entire case, and educate the patient on discharge instructions.
• Ensure patient is prepped for procedures by assessing allergies, medications, labs, and preprocedure medications.
• Rotate through radiology modalities including Angiography, Neuro Intervention, MRI, CT, X-ray and Ultrasound.

Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

• The RN Special Procedures Nurses supports Interventional Radiology – Angiography, assisting a Physician or Physician Assistant, in over 60 different procedures.

• Part-Time benefited position. Scheduled 40 hours bi-weekly (.5 FTE). Day shift, No Weekends, No Holidays.

• The unit operates weekdays from 6:30 am-5:30 pm. Shifts are a mix of 8 and 10-hour shifts. Assignments are a 1:1 patient to nurse ratio. Full-time positions (1.0 FTE positions) are scheduled four, ten-hour shifts.

• NOTE: Call coverage is mandatory.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• The Nurses’ responsibility is to monitor and possibly sedate the patient, chart the entire case, and educate the patient on discharge instructions.

• The Nurse must ensure that the patient has been prepped appropriately for their procedure by assessing patient’s allergies, medications, lab values and giving pre procedure medications as appropriate such as antibiotics.

• Nurses will rotate through all radiology modalities including Angiography, Neuro Intervention, MRI, CT, X-ray and Ultrasound.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Michigan Nursing License

• Graduation from accredited nursing program (Effective January 1, 2013, all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire.)

• BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required.

• Those with ICU (Intensive Care Unit) or ER (Emergency Room) are encouraged to apply.
