Job description

Registered Nurse (RN), Clinical Informatics Specialist

The RN, Clinical Informatics Specialist will serve as a superuser, coordinator, and resource for all areas of the clinical EHR. The role involves researching and incorporating evidence‑based nursing knowledge into informatics practice, ensuring nursing policies and procedures related to health IT comply with regulations and standards. The RN leads clinical software implementations, provides training and support to clinicians, and works closely with the IT department to maintain a safe and compliant environment.

How You'll Contribute
  • Acts as super user for all areas of HMS Clinicals
  • Acts as Meaningful Use Coordinator, coordinating all reporting requirements
  • Acts as lead on clinical and related software implementations
  • Provides training and support to physicians and clinical staff
  • Supports all clinical software upgrades
  • Leads meaningful use initiatives and ensures compliance with all criteria
  • Works closely with IT to monitor technology and infrastructure to prevent medical errors and adverse events
  • Coordinates internal and external clinical development projects for all team members involved in selecting clinical application solutions
  • Demonstrates communication skills necessary to interact with patients of varying ages and cultures
  • Participates in hospital and departmental quality activities as required
  • Recommends processes and workflows to achieve positive patient outcomes
  • Follows all HIPAA/confidentiality requirements to ensure patient and employee privacy
Qualifications
  • Current state RN license required; additional licenses include Current NM RN licensure or appropriate RN Compact Licensure
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Capacity to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Knowledge and experience working with Electronic Health Systems
  • Bloodborne Pathogens exposure
  • Current BLS upon hire
  • New hires have ninety (90) days from date of hire to obtain American Heart Association certifications
  • ACLS must be obtained within six (6) months of hire or transfer into position
  • One year of experience preferred
