Job summary

Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy, NC is seeking a dedicated registered nurse for the Emergency Department. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for diverse patients and coordinate team efforts to ensure quality outcomes.

The role emphasizes bedside care, supervision of support staff, and timely communication with the health care team. A NC RN license, CPR, and targeted certifications are required or pursued promptly.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina.
• Current CPR certification or obtained within three months of employment.
• ACLS, ASLS, PALS, NIHSS within twelve months of hire.
• BSN preferred.
• Certifications in area of specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients.

• Coordinate discharge planning and documentation.
• Adapt to varying patient acuity and staffing needs.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina
• Current CPR certification or obtained within three months of employment
• ACLS, ASLS, PALS, NIHSS within twelve months of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BSN
• Certification in area of specialty
• One year experience in area applying for
• TNCC

Summary

Responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of assigned patient. Responsible and accountable for supervising and delegating care and tasks to other personnel. Assigned patients may vary in age for infancy through geriatrics. Hours of work and length of shift may vary from the established schedule. Patients are assessed and decisions are made about changes in their conditions, verbal, and written reports are made to others on the health care team. Care is coordinated and documented by the nurse. Customizes discharge instructions as appropriate for each patient. Maintains skills pertinent to the ED – splinting, dressing applications, wound care, triage assessment skills and Meditech documentation skills. Delegates appropriately to UC, NAII, PCT and Liaison to coordinate and expedite patient care. Knowledge of disaster drill protocol and able to function in various RN roles as needed in event of same. Able to recognize and adapt to changing patient acuity/volume and prioritize appropriately.
