Job summary

Bronson Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Acute Care Unit on a PRN basis in South Haven. Under supervision, manage patient care from admission to discharge, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team and utilizing electronic health records for planning and documentation.

The role requires RN licensure in Michigan, an associate degree (BSN preferred), BLS, and potentially CC/ALS depending on unit.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for Michigan.
• Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred, within 8 years of hire.
• BLS certification required; Critical Care/ALS may be needed for some units.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification required within 6 months.
• Proficient in reading and analyzing data from computer systems.
• Clear verbal, written, and electronic communication.
• Ability to perform lifting and other physical tasks as specified.

Responsibilities

Job Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) – Acute Care Unit – Bronson South Haven – PRN (Variable). Under general supervision, manage care for patients throughout stay, ensuring quality outcomes and timely discharge.

Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementing, evaluating) and coordinate care with multidisciplinary team.
• Delegate tasks within scope of practice; provide physical care as needed.
• Document and communicate patient responses, resource utilization and anticipated needs during each tour of duty.
• Utilize electronic health records to read, interpret and analyze data for care planning.
• Maintain mental and physical alertness during repetitive or detailed work; lift up to 50 lbs and assist with heavier tasks when needed.
• Perform and oversee nursing interventions, medication administration, and evidence‑based practices.
• Conduct patient education and discharge planning, incorporating patient/family input and cultural considerations.
• Promote quality improvement: participate in activities, use results to initiate practice changes.
• Engage in ongoing education to maintain competency.
• Collaborate with physicians, peers, and other health professionals, including participation in unit staff meetings and committees (at least 50%).
• Act as a liaison with surgical teams when involved as a Scrub RN—prepare case carts, anticipate needs, and support operative procedures.
• Complete Workday CBL “Swing beds” documentation and may cover shifts across Bronson Lakeview or Bed Days, as needed.
• Fulfill on‑call responsibilities on a rotational basis and meet HDU department on‑call requirements.

Qualifications & Certifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the State of Michigan.
• Associate’s degree in Nursing (required) with BSN preferred; must obtain within 8 years of hire or employment may be terminated.
• BLS certification required; Critical Care or ALS required for some units; Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (PQF or NCC) required within 6 months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring.
• Proficiency in reading and analyzing data from various computer systems.
• Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically.
• Ability to handle mental/visual fatigue and perform physical tasks (lifting, pushing, pulling) as specified.
