About Conemaugh Nason Medical Center
Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is part of Lifepoint Health. The hospital serves rural and suburban populations in Roaring Spring, Altoona, and surrounding counties. It offers a state of the art cardiac catheterization lab, 24/7 emergency care, and comprehensive outpatient and specialty services.
How You’ll Contribute
- Demonstrate effective use of the nursing process as the basis for nursing practices.
- Develop individualized care plans to meet each patient’s physical, emotional, and psychological needs.
- Plan appropriate nursing interventions, regularly evaluate patient responses, and update plans as needed.
- Develop discharge plans with physicians, patients, and families; complete discharge instruction records.
- Manage transfers, obtain appropriate consents, and provide complete reports to receiving caregivers.
- Maintain education and transfer records in the EMR; coordinate care and make referrals.
- Provide clinical care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Administer medications and IV therapies accurately; monitor effects, identify adverse reactions, and report them.
- Accurately account for narcotics and document medication administration.
- Maintain patient safety and security; keep a clean environment and ensure call bells are within reach.
- Follow infection control procedures and use handwashing and universal precautions.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and fulfill requests quickly.
- Conduct hourly patient rounds and assess patient needs; report significant changes to the team.
- Manage patient equipment, report malfunctions, and requisition service as needed.
- Employ effective communication in relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Document shift changes via BSSR and communicate significant changes to leader, physician, and supervisor.
- Monitor patients at recommended intervals and handle complaints through personal action or referrals.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and problem identification.
- Demonstrate leadership and, when appropriate, supervise and evaluate ancillary staff.
- Serve as a professional role model and preceptor for new personnel.
- Handle conflict positively and utilize appropriate lines of authority.
- Use supplies efficiently, maintaining an orderly environment.
- Maintain current knowledge in nursing practice and complete unit competencies.
- Understand emergency and disaster plans and respond appropriately.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in nursing practice.

What We’re Looking For
- Graduates of an RN program with a current nursing license in Pennsylvania or a multistate license from a compact member state/territory.
- Associate’s degree is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.
- PALS preferred.
- Basic Trauma Nurse Course or equivalent training obtained within 1 year of hire.
