Job summary

Plum Borough School District is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to promote student and staff wellness and support a safe learning environment. The RN provides school health services, responds to medical needs, administers medications, and collaborates with families and school teams to support overall well-being and academic success.

Key responsibilities include developing health plans, conducting screenings, and educating the school community on health topics.

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience, preferably in school, pediatric, or public health settings.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.
• Continuing education as required by law.
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills; ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess and provide nursing care to students and staff per professional standards.
• Develop and implement Individualized Health Plans and Emergency Action Plans.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the physician.
• Provide emergency medical care, first aid, and crisis intervention as needed.
• Monitor immunization compliance and maintain health records per regulations.
• Conduct required health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis).
• Educate students, staff, and families on health topics such as prevention and wellness.
• Collaborate with counselors, social workers, psychologists, and other staff to promote wellbeing.
• Participate in Student Assistance Program, IEP, and 504 Plan meetings.

The Plum Borough School District is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and student-focused healthcare professional to serve as a Registered Nurse (RN). This position plays an essential role in promoting student and staff wellness, ensuring safe school environments, and supporting students' ability to fully engage in learning. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides school health services to students and staff, responds to medical needs, and collaborates with families and school teams to support overall well‑being and academic success.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assess and provide nursing care to students and staff in accordance with professional standards.
• Develop and implement Individualized Health Plans and Emergency Action Plans for students with chronic or complex medical needs.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the physician.
• Provide emergency medical care, first aid, and crisis intervention as needed.
• Monitor immunization compliance and maintain accurate health records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Conduct required health screenings, including vision, hearing, and scoliosis.
• Educate students, staff, and families on health topics such as disease prevention, hygiene, and wellness.
• Collaborate with counselors, social workers, psychologists, and other support staff to promote student well‑being.
• Participate in Student Assistance Program meetings, IEP meetings, and 504 Plan meetings as needed.
• Assist in implementing infection control procedures and emergency operation plans.
• Maintain confidential medical documentation and communicate appropriately with healthcare providers and families.

Qualifications

• Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in a school, pediatric, or public health setting.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.
• Completion of continuing education as required by law.
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a school setting.

• Following the school calendar
• Compensation in accordance with the Education Support Paraprofessionals agreement.
• Participation in PSERS.
