Job summary

Applewood Centers is seeking a full-time or part-time Registered Nurse for our Youth Residential Program in Northeast Ohio. The RN will provide residential psychiatric nursing care to children and adolescents, collaborating with psychiatrists, therapists, and case managers to support treatment and safety.

The role requires an Ohio RN license, an Associate Degree in Nursing, and PMH or related psychiatric training. BLS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with Ohio license (RN) and current credentials.
• Associate Degree in Nursing with additional psychiatric health training or certification.
• BlS certification preferred and ongoing competency in behavioral health care.
• Ability to work independently with initiative within a team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and case managers within and outside the agency.
• Provide behavioral health education and management strategies while holding clients accountable.
• Assess client needs and link to required services.
• Monitor physical health aspects, medications, side effects, and risks/benefits.
• Lead daily department activities as shift charge nurse.
• Meet with clients independently as referred by psychiatrists and APRNs for triage.
• Document observations and interventions and seek guidance as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required. Specialized training in or certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
2. Licensure/ Certification:Active Ohio Nursing license. RN required. BLS certification preferred.

We are currently looking for a flexible, caring, and organized Psychiatric Nurse interested in providing and enhancing their skills in a residentialbehavioral health setting. As the RegisteredNurse for our Residential Program, you will be joining a passionate team dedicated to treating children and adolescents with mental and behavioral health issues.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, provides residential psychiatric nursing care within the scope of nursing practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists and case managers both within and outside of the agency
• Collaborating with clients, caregivers, and significant others
• Providing behavioral health education and behavioral management strategies while holding client accountable
• Assessing clients for additional treatment needs and linking them with needed services
• Having knowledge of physical health aspects of client care, including weight, nutrition, medication education, assessing and education of side effects, risks and benefits of medication
• Proving clients with community resources
• Provide leadership in the day to day activities of the department (as a shift charge nurse)
• Meeting with clients independently as referred by Psychiatrists and psychiatric APRN's and for triage
• Communicate and document observations and interventions, while seeking and utilizing guidance from team members
