Position Overview

Freedom Behavioral is providing services to adult civil commitment psychiatric patients in Bunkie, LA. The role is for a registered nurse to lead nursing care in a 60‑bed facility, ensuring quality and compliance.

Shift Schedule

Day Shift (7 A‑7 P) and Night Shift (7 P‑7 A).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day patient care activities for the unit.
• Maintain standards of professional nursing practice per TJC, federal, and state regulations.
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of RN license.
• Serve as Charge Nurse as assigned, overseeing ancillary staff.
• Communicate with the Director of Nursing on nursing care issues.
• Participate in performance improvement; complete chart monitoring.
• Coordinate nursing care to patients, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• Communicate patient issues to medical staff.
• Perform patient care assessments timely and accurately.
• Document findings accurately in the medical record.
• Complete all admission paperwork and daily documentation.
• Adhere to Human Resources policies and attendance expectations.
• Follow infection control and employee health guidelines.
• Act as a member of the facility leadership team.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, communicating patient goals, interventions, and assessments.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nursing license in the state of Louisiana.
• Minimum of one year experience in mental health, preferably adult dual diagnosis.
• Leadership experience is a plus.
