Position

Clinical Nurse – Resource

Location: Various locations across IU Health facilities (Level 1 trauma centers, suburban settings, critical access centers).

Description

The Clinical Nurse Resource serves as a vital member of the Indiana University Health system float pool, embodying the mission, vision and values of IU Health. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide and coordinate competent, evidence‑based care across the continuum—from assessment and diagnosis to outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Actively participate in clinical decision‑making, teaching, mentoring and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to advance patient care plans and optimize outcomes.
  • Float seamlessly between multiple IU Health facilities—including medical‑surgical, progressive care, critical care, emergency and specialty units—based on real‑time staffing needs and patient acuity.
  • Adhere to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, the Code of Ethics for Nurses and all relevant policies, procedures and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications
  • Associate of Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. BSN required for new hires or promotions after October 1, 2025.
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program. Two years of experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit or department specialty.
  • Highly adaptable, confident and skilled in managing change.
  • Experience in multiple specialties or eagerness to broaden clinical scope.
  • Strong communication, critical‑thinking and organizational skills.
