RN PT Resource Float Pool Medical Surgical Service Line Nights 7p-7a Rotating Weekends
·Surgical
35 bed unit
· Cares for a variety of pre and post-surgical patients to include:
· Patient to Nurse Ratio is 6:1 with PCT support.
· This unit experiences low turnover due to the excellent teamwork, tenured staff, and physician support within the department.
· The culture felt on the unit is energizing and friendly. The staff are helpful, knowledgeable, and express a willingness to learn.
· Highly motivated staff with clinical expertise on management of different surgery care.
· Excellent Physician-Nurse collaboration.
· Multiple laparoscopic surgeries with many nursing opportunities for learning.
· What You Will Do In Your Role: Apply critical thinking and nursing skills in the preparation and management of variety of surgical procedures.
Extensive collaboration with surgeon in the management of patient.
Use of protocols and guidelines in the management of post-op procedures, including bariatric procedures.
Collaboration with ancillary staff in the discharge planning of patients post-operatively.
Medical Telemetry

Patient to Nurse Ratio: 5-6:1
PCT support on each shift.
Department consists of highly engaged and supportive staff and physicians that complete multidisciplinary rounds on the unit daily.
Staff constantly seeks to advance skill in the management of complex patient care and nursing certification.
The unit provides nursing care to a variety of patients, including observation status for cardiac, renal, and neurology care.
Nurses are able to identify and care for patient with dysrhythmias.
Nurses have the knowledge and skills to manage post-surgical patients, including laparoscopic, orthopedic, and management of cardiac drips.
What You Will Do In Your Role: Interaction with patients with the potential to stay short term 24-48 hours with cardiac, post-procedure with GI issues, and short term medication administration.
Short term monitoring for therapeutic and adverse response to medication.
Preparation for and post-op care if patient ends up requiring higher level of care during observation status.
Learn new knowledge, skills, and technology in the management of cardiac related interventions.
Collaborative relationship with cath lab, radiology, and cardiac interventionist.
Promote patient satisfaction with diverse patient population.
What You Will Do In Your Role:
You will consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients.
You will collaborate with the patient care team to achieve quality patient outcomes.
You will provide communication, confidence, and professionalism as evidenced by active engagement in unit and organizational activities.
You will demonstrate teamwork, adaptability, and serve as a resource to the patient care team.
You will have accountability for delivering quality nursing care services and for promoting a positive image of nursing.
What qualifications you will need:
Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.
Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date).
Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
2 years Medical Surgical or Medical Surgical Ortho/Tele acute care hospital nursing experience.
