This program can support candidates in Onondaga and Oneida counties and their respective surrounding counties.

Registered Nurse Resident (RNR) is a novice nurse that participates in a nurse residency cohort. The RNR is responsible for learning how to provide direct patient care, coordinate home care services, and document care for agency clients in accordance with Quality Standards under the guidance of a Clinical Supervisor. After completing 6 months in the residency, you will work one weekend a month. Upon completing the 12-month program, the novice nurse will be a competent home care nurse and advance to Registered Nurse Case Manager.

Performance Responsibilities and Standards:

  1. Participate in the nurse residency program, including classroom, online, simulation, and in-home training. Complete all assignments and learning modules.
  2. Learn to ensure quality and safe delivery of home health services, including assessments, developing care plans, and documenting interactions clearly and timely.
  3. Coordinate care with fellow RNs and LPNs, providing guidance and education, and managing patient care using a team approach.
  4. Supervise paraprofessional staff, including home health aides, ensuring scope of practice is maintained and communication is clear.
  5. Comply with policies, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to infection control and regulatory standards.
  6. Participate in ongoing education, professional development, and maintain a professional image.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Current NY State RN license or Graduate Nurse License; RN licensure within 90 days of hire.
  • Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to a vehicle.
  • Self-organized, motivated, with basic computer skills and good communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit/stand most of the day, perform physical tasks, and drive in all weather conditions.
  • Visual/hearing abilities sufficient for communication, with the ability to use a phone and computer.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category III.

Salary and Benefits: Min $72,415.71 - Max $83,992.40/year, with a $15,000 sign-on bonus, 401K, gym, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, disability, EAP, and more.
