Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking an experienced RN for the Main Campus Recovery Room/PACU in Cleveland, OH. The role supports immediate post-operative care for pediatric through adult patients, with responsibilities spanning airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and pain control.

Join a rotating-shift team with bi-weekly hours and collaboration across OR, ED, ICU/ inpatient units, anesthesia, surgeons, PT, radiology and pharmacy. PRN opportunities available with professional development incentives.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the State of Ohio.
• BLS certification for healthcare providers; ACLS and/or PALS within 6 months as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care in the Recovery Room/PACU for pediatric through adult patients.
• Maintain airway, monitor vitals, and ensure hemodynamic stability.
• Assess sedation, neurological status, and pain control; monitor wound integrity.
• Collaborate with OR/ ED/ Inpatient RNs, anesthesia, surgeons, PT, radiology, and pharmacy.
• Support overall patient assessment and timely response to changes.

Bi-weekly Hours: 64.00

Shift: Rotating Shifts; Rotating holidays, Call Requirement

Primary Patient Population:

• Pediatric through Adult
• Immediate post-operative period

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Maintain patient airway
• Assess hemodynamic stability and support
• Monitor sedation, neurological, neuromuscular, and sensory motor status
• Provision of adequate pain and comfort measures
• Assess Wound/incision integrity
• Overall patient assessment

Personnel RN will work with:

• OR/ ED/Inpatient RNs, Pre/Post Phase 2 staff, Anesthesia staff, Surgeons, PT, Radiology, Pharmacy

Number of OR Suites/Cases:

• 26 beds (Bay platform)
• 40-50 surgical cases daily

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current ACLS and PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
