Job summary

IU Health Fort Wayne Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse Quality Coordinator to help build and support the hospital's quality and performance improvement program as it opens its new facility.

The RN Quality Coordinator partners with interdisciplinary teams, nursing leadership, and infection prevention to improve patient outcomes, ensure regulatory readiness, and drive continuous improvement across clinical operations.

Qualifications

• BSN is required; active RN license in Indiana or NLC.
• Master's in clinical healthcare or business preferred.
• CPHQ certification preferred.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience preferred.
• BLS certification preferred; other advanced life support may be required.
• Experience with report writing and graphical data display preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support the hospital-wide Quality Program.
• Lead performance improvement initiatives with interdisciplinary project teams.
• Analyze clinical and operational data to identify trends, gaps in care, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support peer review activities with medical staff leaders (40–50% of workload).
• Prepare quality reports, dashboards, and graphical data presentations (≈40% of workload).
• Assist with regulatory readiness, accreditation activities, and compliance efforts (≈10% of workload).
• Collaborate with Infection Prevention, Nursing, Medical Staff, Trauma, and Stroke Program leaders.
• Provide education and training on quality improvement methodologies, data analysis, and process improvement tools.
• Participate in regional and system-wide quality initiatives and meetings.
• Partner with data and analytics teams to support data capture, validation, and reporting.

Position Summary

As IU Health prepares to open its new Fort Wayne Hospital, the Registered Nurse Quality Coordinator will play a key role in building and supporting the hospital's quality and performance improvement program. This position partners with interdisciplinary teams, physician leaders, nursing leadership, and infection prevention staff to improve clinical outcomes, enhance patient safety, and ensure regulatory compliance. The RN Quality Coordinator develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates continuous quality improvement initiatives, independently leads workgroups, analyzes gaps in care, and facilitates performance improvement activities aligned with organizational goals and strategic priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) required.
• Masters degree in clinical healthcare or business preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification preferred.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification through the AHA., preferred. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Experience in report writing and graphical display preferred.
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Applications preferred.
