The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients during a designated time frame. The RN provides care utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and resources within the institution's philosophy.

Key Functions:

1. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit, specific to the scope of service.
2. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
3. Maintains accurate documentation of nursing care to ensure effective communication within the healthcare team.
4. Conducts initial patient assessments and develops appropriate care plans based on patient and family needs.
5. Implements and adjusts care plans and interventions as needed.
6. Ensures patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting hazards and incidents.
7. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues to resolve issues and promote understanding.
8. Provides constructive feedback and collaborates with peers for professional development.
9. Identifies personal learning needs and takes initiative for growth.
10. Fulfills departmental competency requirements.
11. Monitors EMU patients 24/7 for seizure activity.
12. Maintains good communication with patients and families through hourly rounding, bedside shift reports, and whiteboards.
13. Collaborates with the critical care team and hospitalists for Advanced Care patients.

REQUIREMENTS

• Registered Nurse with PCU experience, 3 years preferred.
• License: RN-IL
• Certifications: BLS-AHA and ACLS-AHA (copies required)
• SSN and DOB required.
• EPIC experience is required.
